A few specific questions served as my compass, guiding my research and experiments:

To make pottery, one must find clay. It is a type of soil that, when soaked in water, becomes a malleable paste, capable of being shaped and hardened through firing. Clay exists within our soil, but its quantity and quality are variable.

Do our soils contain clays suitable for creating ceramic objects?

We know that three-quarters of our island's soil is imbued with a high proportion of iron oxide and aluminum, bestowing it with a striking reddish-orange hue.

What spectrum of colors would emerge from the lands of our volcanoes?

Is it feasible to utilize local materials, instead of relying entirely on imports as we currently do?

Can we envision and develop a collection of pottery that is deeply rooted in our territory and history?
